The Fiji Revenue Customs Service (FRCS) has inaugurated its new office in Ba, a move designed to enhance service delivery and strengthen compliance efforts in the region. The office opening took place last week, marking a significant milestone for the organization.
Finance Minister Esrom Immanuel expressed that the establishment of the Ba office goes beyond simply updating physical spaces. He highlighted that it symbolizes the impressive progress FRCS has made in recent years. The Minister noted that FRCS is committed to modernizing its systems, enhancing leadership capacity, and improving compliance frameworks, all of which contribute to serving taxpayers more efficiently and equitably.
Immanuel pointed to Fiji’s recent exit from the European Union’s blacklist of non-cooperative jurisdictions for tax purposes as a testament to FRCS’s achievements. This transformation is the result of comprehensive reforms led by FRCS focused on tax transparency, governance, and international compliance. The Minister thanked FRCS for the dedication and expertise demonstrated over the past three years to reach this significant milestone, emphasizing that this achievement serves to bolster global confidence in Fiji’s tax system.
Additionally, FRCS’s Chief Executive Officer, Udit Singh, stated that the new office will better serve the local population and stimulate economic development in the region. Singh emphasized that the opening of the Ba office represents teamwork and a shared commitment to improving service for the nation.
The new FRCS office is located on Level One of the FIFA Building, above the Bank of South Pacific on Ganga Singh Street, Ba. This initiative reflects a proactive approach towards enhancing public service and fostering economic growth within the local community, showcasing FRCS’s dedication to building an organization that is transparent, responsive, and performance-driven.
