Several roads and river crossings in Fiji’s Western Division have become inaccessible due to heavy rainfall, raising significant safety concerns among authorities. Motorists are being urged to exercise extreme caution as they navigate the affected areas.
As of January 17, 2026, flooding has significantly impacted various locations, particularly in Ba, Lautoka, and their adjacent regions. Critical routes that are currently impassable include Cemetery Road Crossing, Babariban Crossing, Marinitawa Crossing, Toge First Crossing, Etatoko Road, Sorokoba Road Crossing, Navala Road at Namau Crossing, Drasa Dam Road First Crossing, and Vakabuli Indian School Road Crossing.
Additionally, Varadoli Crossing in Ba is only accessible to four-wheel-drive vehicles due to high water levels, making travel difficult for regular cars.
Authorities are advising road users to steer clear of flooded areas, remain updated through official channels, and prioritize their safety while traveling. With weather conditions continuing to be unpredictable, it is crucial for motorists to remain vigilant and cautious. The community’s cooperation and adherence to safety recommendations can help ensure that everyone remains safe during this challenging situation.
