FLAGSTAFF, AZ — Chef Rochelle Daniel, the owner of Atria in downtown Flagstaff, is stepping into the spotlight as one of 16 elite chefs competing for a staggering $1 million grand prize on CBS’s new cooking competition, America’s Culinary Cup. The highly anticipated show premieres on CBS 5 on Wednesday, March 4, and will also be available for streaming on Paramount+.
A celebrated figure in the Arizona culinary community, Chef Daniel brings a wealth of experience and accolades to the competition. She has been inducted into the Arizona Culinary Hall of Fame and is a contestant on the Food Network’s “Chopped.” Adding to her reputation, Chef Daniel is a nominee for Best Chef in the Southwest by the James Beard Foundation for 2026.
America’s Culinary Cup challenges contestants through the “10 Culinary Commandments,” which encompass categories such as meat, vegetables, sauces, desserts, and more. A panel of judges will evaluate the chefs based on their taste, creativity, presentation, and culinary technique, determining who excels in each area to earn the grand prize, marking a historic moment in culinary television.
“It is so, so intense because they picked the best of the best nationwide for chefs,” Chef Daniel shared. “It’s incredible to be recognized among such talent. So it’s the most intense show alive, and I’m pretty excited for it to come out.”
Beyond her competition on the show, Chef Daniel is expanding her culinary footprint in Flagstaff. She revealed plans to open a bistro next door to Atria, along with a bakery and a speakeasy. “It’s growing every day, and people come up here to eat and enjoy the mountains,” she said, expressing her enthusiasm for transforming the local dining scene.
