A Christmas Day journey for Lavenia and her family took an unexpected but joyous turn when she went into labor while en route from Nadi to Nayavu. Sharing the news, the Archdiocese of Suva reported that as the family traveled, Lavenia began to experience strong contractions. Fortuitously, they were passing by Ra Maternity Hospital just as it became clear that the baby couldn’t wait any longer.

The hospital’s skilled medical team quickly stepped in, admitting Lavenia and assisting with the delivery. In a heartwarming outcome, she gave birth to a healthy baby boy, marking a special occasion as the first Christmas Day delivery at Ra Maternity Hospital this year. The Archdiocese took the opportunity to commend the hospital staff for their dedication, emphasizing that both mother and newborn are in excellent health.

After a brief observation period following the birth, Lavenia and her son were discharged on Boxing Day and returned home to Nadi. This touching event not only highlights the joy that new life brings during the festive season but also underscores the essential role of healthcare professionals in ensuring safe deliveries. The family’s experience serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of life and the happiness that can arise from unexpected situations, especially during a time meant for celebration.
