The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team concluded their Singapore tournament with a commendable effort, finishing sixth after a close 17–14 loss to France in the fifth-place play-off.
France took an early lead in the match, with tries from Lou Noel and Alycia Christeans giving them a 12–7 advantage by halftime. The Fijiana responded with spirited play, highlighted by the impressive running of Reapi Uluinasau, who managed to score twice to keep the team’s hopes alive.
Uluinasau’s third try in the 11th minute brought Fiji within just three points, with the score at 14–17, which set up a nail-biting finish as the Fijiana launched a strong offensive in the closing moments. However, despite their efforts, France’s resolute defense ensured they maintained their lead, prompting Fiji to settle for a sixth-place finish in the Singapore Sevens.
Though the Fijiana did not secure a higher ranking, their fighting spirit showcased the potential and resilience of the team, promising a brighter future in upcoming tournaments.
