Three standout players from the Fijiana 15s team have officially joined the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s squad as preparations intensify for the forthcoming HSBC SVNS Series. Captain Alfreda Fisher, Kolora Lomani, and Adi Salote Nailolo took part in a training session with the sevens squad on Wednesday at the Uprising Sports Centre in Pacific Harbour.

These athletes played crucial roles for the Fijiana 15s during the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup and are now setting their sights on earning a place in the lineup for the upcoming Singapore 7s tournament, set for the end of this month.

Alfreda Fisher and Kolora Lomani bring valuable experience to the sevens format, with Lomani previously showcasing her skills on an international platform during the 2024 Olympic Games in France. Fisher has also had significant exposure to the sevens circuit, having been part of the national women’s 7s extended squad three years ago and continuing her dedication while serving in the Republic of Fiji Navy.

Meanwhile, Adi Salote Nailolo, who made a notable entry last year as one of three debutants for the Fijiana 15s at the World Cup, is making a swift transition to this dynamic opportunity in sevens rugby.

The Fijiana team will face formidable challenges in Pool A of the Singapore 7s, with stiff competition from Australia, Japan, and the USA. The tournament is scheduled to take place from January 31 to February 2.

In addition to the activities of the Fijiana team, both the Fiji men’s and women’s teams are gearing up for the Coral Coast 7s tournament in Sigatoka next week, which is expected to deliver more exhilarating rugby action. This surge in participation underscores the rising prominence of rugby in Fiji and the concerted efforts to enhance the visibility of women’s rugby on both national and international stages.
