Exciting news is on the horizon for young boys looking to showcase their talents in drum beating, also known as “qiri kava.” A competition organized by the non-governmental organization, Aruka Fiji, is set to take place this weekend.
The initiative aims to unite youth while providing them with a platform to express their creativity and discuss pressing issues affecting their communities. According to Inoke Drauna, the director of Aruka Fiji, the competition not only features enticing prizes of $1,000, $500, and $300 for the top performers but also seeks to foster dialogue among young people regarding social challenges they face.
“This is very important, and we want our young people to know that they also matter in Fiji,” Drauna emphasized, highlighting the competition’s goal of inclusivity and empowerment.
Those interested in participating can register by calling 1528. The exact venue for the event will be confirmed later this week.
This competition promises to be a great opportunity for youth to connect, share ideas, and express themselves through music and rhythm, fostering a sense of community and purpose.
