A delegation from the Fijian Government, headed by Minister for Housing and Local Government, Maciu Nalumisa, is currently in Singapore to study the country’s advanced integrated solid waste management systems and circular economy practices. This visit aims to enhance Fiji’s understanding of modern waste management, including aspects such as planning, regulation, monitoring, and reporting processes.

The Fijian officials are particularly interested in how data is utilized to bolster environmental protection and public health outcomes. Insights gained from Singapore’s effective waste management strategies are expected to inform ongoing reforms in Fiji, aiding in the enhancement of policies in line with the national sustainable development objectives.

This study visit is part of broader initiatives aimed at modernizing Fiji’s waste management sector and boosting long-term environmental resilience.
