The Fiji Airways national men’s sevens team has enhanced its lineup by adding Waisake Tewa and Akuila Dranivotua, following their impressive displays at the recent Coral Coast Sevens tournament. Both athletes have earned their spots in the expanded national sevens squad due to their remarkable performances.

Waisake Tewa, who was the sole track representative for Fiji at the 2023 Olympic Games, demonstrated his exceptional speed and athleticism while playing for the Dominion Brothers in the Coral Coast Sevens. His smooth reintegration into high-performance rugby drew the attention of selectors, showcasing his readiness for the next level.

In tandem with Tewa, Akuila Dranivotua’s strong performances for the Police Rugby Club further solidified his selection. His consistent contributions during the Coral Coast tournament highlighted his ability and readiness to compete on the national stage.

The inclusion of Tewa and Dranivotua emphasizes the national program’s commitment to identifying and acknowledging talent from prominent domestic tournaments. This approach ensures that exceptional performers are given the chance to represent Fiji in international rugby, fostering the growth of the sport within the country. The move serves as a hopeful indication for the future of Fiji rugby, as emerging talents step up to showcase their skills on a larger platform.
