The Fiji Police Force has introduced a 24-hour call centre at its headquarters, a proactive measure aimed at bolstering public trust and confidence in law enforcement. Citizens are encouraged to report crimes or provide valuable information by dialing the toll-free number 1681 or reaching out via email at fpf.callcentre@police.gov.fj.

According to Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu, the new call centre serves as a reliable channel for community members to express their concerns regarding police services, report criminal activities, or offer tips and information. He urged the public to take advantage of this initiative.

“I urge members of the public to utilise the call centre and direct all issues regarding police service or police officers, reports of crime, or the sharing of information,” Commissioner Tudravu said. He assured that all information received will be forwarded to the relevant Directors and Divisional Commanders for prompt action, with feedback provided as soon as possible.

This initiative is designed to streamline reporting processes within the police force. It enables shift supervisors to manage urgent responses effectively and enhances the overall efficiency of law enforcement activities. Commissioner Tudravu recognized that public dissatisfaction has often stemmed from slow responses and inadequate feedback, and this new system aims to tackle these issues head-on.

He highlighted that reports submitted through official channels will undergo comprehensive investigations and follow-ups, which is crucial for developing a responsive police service that adequately meets community needs. This initiative marks a significant step toward strengthening community policing and fostering a collaborative atmosphere between law enforcement and the public, ultimately promoting a safer environment for all.
