Netball Fiji has announced an extended squad camp for the Fiji Pearls, set to take place this Saturday, where 58 athletes are expected to participate. This one-day event will gather players and coaching staff from both the Fiji Pearls and the national men’s netball team, with the aim of enhancing skills and conditioning in preparation for a busy competitive season ahead.
The Fiji Pearls are gearing up for a series of competitions, including a domestic event and three international tournaments scheduled between July and October. This initiative aligns with Netball Fiji’s dedication to elevating their competitive standards and improving their world ranking. The current ranking has unfortunately impacted their chances of qualifying for this year’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, as they were unable to secure a top 12 finish.
In a recent statement, Netball Fiji highlighted the importance of this camp as a strategic opportunity to outline their direction for the upcoming year. “Bringing our national teams together ahead of key fixtures in 2026 reflects our commitment to performance, collaboration, and excellence in our high-performance space,” they stated. “We are confident this camp will set the tone for a successful year for both teams.”
The camp will occur at the Vodafone Arena in Suva, commencing at 9 am, with players requested to arrive by 8 am. The extensive roster includes standout athletes such as Adi Lebha Cocker, Alisi Naqiri, and Rhys Harmony Williams, showcasing a strong representation of talent across the nation.
This upcoming camp represents a proactive and hopeful step towards enhancing the performance of Fiji’s netball teams on both local and global stages. With a focused strategy and collaborative effort, Netball Fiji appears well-positioned for a promising year ahead.
