Rajesh Singh, the former assistant chair of the Fiji National Rugby League (FNRL), has been removed from the board by newly elected chairman Apenisa Dansey. The decision, communicated in a termination letter which Singh reportedly chose not to sign, was made due to his failure to comply with essential governance requirements.
Singh’s challenges began when he was appointed to the FNRL Board during the 2024 Annual General Meeting. As part of the governance standards, he was required to resign from any positions related to the NRL Bid to avoid any potential conflicts of interest. However, Singh did not submit the necessary resignation letter, and it was confirmed that the NRL Bid remained registered in his name, which constitutes a significant violation of compliance protocols.
Chairman Dansey emphasized that the removal of Singh was necessary to maintain the integrity of the Fiji National Rugby League. Efforts by FBC Sports to reach out to Singh for comments on his dismissal were unsuccessful.
This incident underscores the FNRL’s dedication to upholding governance standards and highlights the significance of transparency and accountability in sports organizations. By taking these steps, the FNRL is not only addressing current issues but is also working towards ensuring the league’s ongoing stability and future success.
