The Fijian government has officially announced that Dr. Peggy Ravusiro, the recently crowned Miss Fiji 2025, will represent the nation at the upcoming Miss Pacific Island Pageant 2026. This decision comes after a Cabinet meeting that approved a substantial financial package of $198,000 to support both the Miss Fiji Pageant and the upcoming Miss Pacific Island Pageant.

Acting Prime Minister Filimoni Vosarogo emphasized the importance of this decision, which aligns with a Service Agreement signed on December 3, 2025. He stated, “It needs to be understood that when Cabinet makes a decision on a matter, the expectation that such decision will be respected must follow.” This statement underscores the government’s intention to ensure that all processes and arrangements in relation to the pageants reflect this commitment.

Mr. Vosarogo pointed out that government oversight is essential given the use of public funds. He highlighted that the decision is not just a governmental stance but aims to maintain the public’s confidence in how these funds are administered.

Scheduled to take place in 2026, Fiji will host the Miss Pacific Island Pageant for the first time in seven years. Mr. Vosarogo expressed his enthusiasm for the event, looking forward to welcoming participants from across the Pacific. “The nation looks forward to hosting the Miss Pacific Island Pageant in 2026 and welcoming our Pacific sisters to Fiji once again,” he said, conveying a hopeful sentiment regarding the event’s potential to foster unity and celebrate regional beauty.

This announcement signifies not only the importance of beauty pageants as cultural, social, and economic platforms in the Pacific but also highlights Fiji’s dedication to strengthening regional connections and showcasing its hospitality on an international stage. The excitement surrounding the Miss Pacific Island Pageant presents a unique opportunity for Fiji to enhance its profile in the region and beyond.
