The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has announced the passing of Dr. Jemesa Tudravu, its Permanent Secretary, who died yesterday. Dr. Tudravu’s distinguished career in Fiji’s health sector lasted over three decades. He began his professional journey as an Orthopaedic Surgeon after completing his specialist training at Newcastle Hospital in Australia. Dr. Tudravu held several key leadership roles, including Medical Superintendent at Lautoka Hospital and the Colonial War Memorial Hospital, and served as Chief Medical Advisor. In February 2024, he was appointed Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services.

The Ministry has praised Dr. Tudravu’s leadership style, characterized by humility, integrity, commitment, and compassion. His profound contributions to healthcare in Fiji and the community at large are deeply valued, and he is remembered for the significant positive impact he had throughout his career.

In light of this loss, the Ministry has expressed its heartfelt condolences to Dr. Tudravu’s family, friends, and colleagues, acknowledging the enduring legacy he leaves in the healthcare system. Dr. Luisa Cikamatana will serve as the Acting Permanent Secretary in the interim.
