The Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) has forged a significant partnership with E-Tech Engineering Pte Ltd, valued at $4.5 million, to improve and expand the Nasinu Cemetery. This initiative addresses increasing public concerns about the declining burial space in the facility, aiming to create approximately 17,000 new burial plots that will meet the community’s needs for the next seven years.
During the official signing ceremony held at FCS Headquarters, Acting Commissioner of Corrections Auta Moceisuva met with E-Tech Engineering’s Director Ashneel Singh, along with consultants from NRW Macallan Fiji Ltd. Moceisuva emphasized the urgent need for the project, highlighting that the existing burial capacity is expected to be fully utilized within the current quarter.
Expressing appreciation for E-Tech’s dedication, Moceisuva acknowledged the challenges faced in navigating various documentation and procedural hurdles to kickstart the project. Singh responded by assuring that his team is diligently on-site and committed to ensuring the successful execution of the project.
This partnership marks a crucial advancement in meeting public demand for enhanced cemetery infrastructure, thereby addressing community needs while aligning with government objectives for improved services. The proactive approach reflected in this collaboration provides hope for families seeking burial solutions in the coming years.
