A woman in her 30s is scheduled to appear in the Suva Magistrates Court today following her recent arrest during a significant police operation in Delainavesi. The suspect was apprehended last week as part of a coordinated raid involving officers from the Serious Organised Crime and Intelligence Department, the Southern Division Taskforce, and the Fiji Detector Dog Unit.

Authorities indicated that substances discovered in the woman’s vehicle tested positive for methamphetamine, marking this as not her first run-in with the law, as she has previously been charged with drug-related crimes. She currently faces multiple charges, which include unlawful possession of illicit drugs, possession of property believed to be the proceeds of crime, possession of breaking implements, and unlawful possession of explosives.

The explosive charge stems from the finding of a non-lethal device typically used by defense forces to disorient targets. The investigation into this case remains active, as the Fiji Police Force confirmed the accused’s formal presentation in court today.

This incident underscores the persistent efforts of law enforcement to address drug-related offenses and the challenges they encounter in striving to ensure community safety. It signals a commitment to tackling crime at various levels, as agencies collaborate to create a safer environment for all citizens.
