A significant weather event is currently impacting the entire Fiji Group, with heavy rain forecasted to continue over the coming days. The latest bulletin, issued at 6:50 PM on January 11, 2026, reveals that a slow-moving trough of low pressure is situated over Fiji and is expected to strengthen starting tomorrow.

Over the next few days, Fiji will experience widespread rain, with heavy showers anticipated at times, along with thunderstorms. In the past 24 hours, substantial rainfall has already been reported across several regions. Tubenasolo recorded the highest amount at 94.5 millimeters, followed by Nanoko at 80.0 millimeters, Dreketilailai with 76.5 millimeters, and Wairkicake at 74.0 millimeters.

Authorities are urging residents to be cautious of potential impacts, including flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas, which may affect informal settlements, businesses, and Irish crossings, leading to possible traffic disruptions. Urban areas with inadequate drainage are likely to experience surface flooding, and the wet conditions may heighten the risk of road accidents due to poor visibility and slippery roads.

The public is advised to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions, while also keeping up to date with the latest weather advisories as Fiji braces for what may be a challenging weather period ahead.
