Local boxing enthusiasts are in for an exhilarating year as the Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) evaluates a lineup of exciting events for the 2026 professional boxing season. BCF Chairman Adi Narayan announced that several promoters have put forward compelling proposals, signaling a promising future for the sport in the region.

Kicking off the calendar, Zeg Boxing Promotions is slated to host its inaugural event on March 28 at the Vodafone Arena in Suva. The promoter, Alfaaz Mallam, has received approval for his new venture and is eager to bring thrilling matches to local fans.

Following closely, Blue Waters Promotions is planning two significant events in 2026. The first, scheduled for April 25 at Prince Charles Park in Nadi, is set to make history for professional boxing in Fiji. Narayan noted that Mohammed Sameer Khan from Blue Waters is currently in New Zealand negotiating with boxers, and the event will showcase fighters from New Zealand, Australia, Papua New Guinea, India, and Fiji. “This means five countries will be represented in the programme, which is very encouraging and exciting for patrons,” Narayan stated, underscoring the international appeal of the event.

Additionally, Alan Kumar’s Bula Sports Events has proposed two more events throughout the year, one in April and the other in October, although specific dates are pending venue confirmations.

Narayan expressed optimism that all six events will uphold the standards set by the BCF, promising an electrifying year ahead for professional boxing in Fiji. This budding interest in boxing not only enhances the local sports scene but also fosters a sense of community and camaraderie among fans and athletes alike, making it a hopeful endeavor for the future of the sport in the region.
