The report from the tribunal investigating serious allegations against suspended Fiji Corrections Service Commissioner Dr. Jalesi Nakarawa is anticipated to be released by President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu. The inquiry addresses three significant allegations against Nakarawa, including claims of misconduct linked to personal interests, financial mismanagement, and abuse of authority.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, who chairs the Constitutional Offices Commission (COC), directed inquiries about the report to Ropate Green, the Solicitor-General at the COC Secretariat. However, queries regarding the COC’s receipt of the report remained unanswered. Acting Attorney-General Siromi Turaga confirmed that the report’s issuance will be handled by the President, who oversees the tribunal’s commission.

The tribunal, led by Justice Daniel Goundar along with Justices Dane Tuiqereqere and Savenaca Banuve, was established in July 2022 following a COC recommendation to the President. The tribunal wrapped up its proceedings in November 2025, and the outcome of these serious allegations is now awaited as the nation looks for accountability and transparency in leadership.

The upcoming release of the report could signify a pivotal moment for governance and ethics within Fiji’s public service sector, reminding all officials of the critical need for integrity in their roles.
