Fiji Airways has established a significant sporting partnership by signing a three-year agreement with the AFL Gold Coast SUNS ahead of the launch of its new direct flight service between Gold Coast and Nadi, set for June 11, 2026. This collaboration aims to enhance Fiji’s visibility in Australia, with prominent branding opportunities during SUNS home games at People First Stadium, which can draw crowds of up to 20,000 fans.

Paul Scurrah, Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways, emphasized the importance of this partnership in connecting sport and tourism in Australia, Fiji’s largest tourism market. “Australia remains Fiji’s largest tourism market, and the Gold Coast is a natural extension of our network. This partnership not only supports the launch of our new direct service but also promotes Fiji as a premier holiday destination to thousands of Australian travellers each week,” said Scurrah.

The partnership officially begins on March 2, just days prior to the SUNS’ season opener against the Geelong Cats on March 6. Fans can look forward to Fijian-themed halftime events, cultural performances, and various giveaways throughout the 2026 season.

Mark Evans, chief executive of the SUNS, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, “We’re thrilled to welcome Fiji Airways to our club.” He noted that this partnership would not only enhance the matchday experience for fans but also strengthen the connection between the Gold Coast and the Pacific region.

In celebration of this partnership, Fiji Airways is offering limited return fares from Nadi to the Gold Coast, starting at $799 FJD, providing an attractive incentive for Australian travelers looking to experience Fiji’s unique culture and beauty. This partnership is a promising development for both entities, fostering tourism and enhancing community engagement in the region.
