Fiji Airways has issued travel alerts regarding disruptions on two regional routes due to fuel shortages at destination airports. Flights to Funafuti will have operational restrictions in place until January 15, 2026. These restrictions demand that aircraft carry additional contingency fuel from Fiji, significantly constraining operational capacity.

As a result of the added fuel requirements, flights to Funafuti won’t be able to operate at full capacity due to weight limitations. Similar challenges exist for the Nadi–Vava’u service, which will face fuel unavailability until January 9, 2026. Passengers on these flights may face being offloaded alongside their checked and standby baggage to comply with weight and balance guidelines. Affected travelers will, however, be accommodated on the next available flights as conditions permit.

In preparation for potential delays, Fiji Airways advises travelers to pack essential items and overnight necessities in their hand luggage, adhering to standard carry-on regulations. This recommendation seeks to ensure that passengers are well-equipped for any unforeseen disruptions during their travel.

Amid these challenges, Fiji Airways is committed to passenger safety and comfort, working diligently to navigate through these temporary hurdles while maintaining flight operations as efficiently as possible. The airline aims to support its travelers during this period by ensuring clarity and preparedness as they encounter these operational changes.
