Fiji Airways has announced the introduction of additional flights via Savusavu to ensure continued connectivity for travelers to Vanua Levu during the temporary closure of Labasa Airport. The airport will be shut down from February 16 to March 27, 2026, to facilitate essential runway strengthening works conducted by Fiji Airports.
During this closure, all flights to and from Labasa will be suspended. To minimize travel disruptions, Fiji Airways plans to enhance its services through Savusavu, providing four daily flights between Nadi and Savusavu, along with three weekly flights linking Suva and Savusavu throughout the airport’s shutdown.
This increase in flight capacity aims to support both residents and visitors who depend on air travel for business, family, and essential needs, ensuring their access to and from Vanua Levu remains uninterrupted. Travelers with existing reservations to Labasa during the closure are encouraged to reach out to Fiji Airways or their travel agents to explore alternative travel options via Savusavu. It is advisable for passengers to book early, as demand is anticipated to surge during this period.
Fiji Airways has committed to keeping customers informed as the runway work progresses and expressed gratitude for the understanding and cooperation of its passengers during this time.
