In a vibrant display of culture and talent, every youth group participating in the “Qiri kapa” (drum beating) competition was honored as a winner during an event organized by ARUKA Fiji at the Raiwaqa basketball court last Saturday. This initiative, led by ARUKA Fiji founder Inoke Drauna, is designed to empower the youth by giving them a platform to showcase their abilities while simultaneously raising awareness about essential support services such as child protection and HIV awareness.

Mr. Drauna emphasized the importance of such initiatives in enabling young people to access crucial services. He expressed gratitude to organizations like Save the Children, Reproductive Family Health, and the Ministry of Women, Children, and Social Protection for their continued partnership in these efforts. These collaborations aim to enhance understanding regarding the resources available to the community.

Furthermore, Mr. Drauna highlighted that creative forms of engagement, such as drum beating, serve as powerful tools to involve youth who might otherwise be overlooked in community gatherings. This approach not only celebrates cultural heritage but also fosters a sense of belonging and encourages participation among young individuals.

ARUKA Fiji continues to support youth well-being through its toll-free helpline, 1528, which provides mental health and social support to those in need. This event signifies not only a celebration of talent but also a commitment to strengthening community support structures for the youth of Fiji, offering a hopeful pathway for the future.
