The Municipal Department of Infrastructure (SEMINF) took swift action on Friday, September 30, by conducting emergency repairs on the bridge over the Mindu Stream, situated on Avenida Djalma Batista in the Centro-South region. This response was aimed at enhancing safety for both pedestrians and motorists utilizing the busy thoroughfare.

The need for intervention arose after structural issues were identified, specifically due to a material leak that led to the formation of a crater, significantly increasing the risk of accidents in a highly trafficked area of the city. SEMINF’s emergency teams were promptly dispatched to assess the damage and initiate containment efforts to mitigate potential hazards for the community.

Sefraim Aragão, the Deputy Secretary for Basic Services at SEMINF, explained that during the rainy season, incidents of this nature tend to occur more frequently. Therefore, the department’s proactive measures aim to lessen disruptions for those who rely on this route daily.

Traffic agents from the Municipal Institute of Urban Mobility (IMMU) were present to direct traffic and provide guidance to drivers and pedestrians, ensuring safety and maintaining the flow of vehicles as the emergency work was carried out.

The city’s quick and coordinated response to this structural issue highlights its commitment to public safety and infrastructure integrity. As communities face the challenges of weather-related incidents, such interventions are critical in safeguarding daily commutes and preventing potential accidents.
