LANDOVER, Md. — Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Nakobe Dean is questionable to return this week after suffering a hamstring injury during the first quarter of the game. The 25-year-old linebacker fell awkwardly, which led to him needing medical attention from the blue medical tent before he made his way to the locker room.
In Dean’s absence, rookie first-round pick Jihaad Campbell stepped in as his replacement. Campbell had initially started alongside Zack Baun at the beginning of the season until Dean returned from the PUP list in Week 7 and quickly resumed a high level of performance on the field.
Throughout the season, Dean has participated in eight games, amassing impressive stats including 53 tackles, four sacks, six quarterback hits, and two forced fumbles. His strong performance has secured his position as a full-time starter, effectively taking that role back from Campbell, who had performed well in the early part of the season.
Despite the circumstances, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has been proactive in getting Campbell some playing time in recent weeks. Over the last two weeks, Campbell has seen action on the field for 15 snaps, following a previous game where he did not participate defensively against the Bears.
The Eagles will be hoping for Dean’s swift recovery to bolster their defense as they continue their push in the season.
