Internet speed concerns are emerging in the country as data consumption skyrockets. Rajnesh Prasad, the Regional Chief Marketing Officer of Vodafone, has indicated that the rising demand for data is significantly contributing to slower internet speeds for customers.
Prasad shared with FBC News that December marked the company’s highest recorded data usage, but early predictions suggest that January’s figures could eclipse those of the previous month once final statistics are available.
He noted, “The demand for data is increasing rapidly across multiple areas, with households having two or more devices. We are seeing an increase in data usage, and we are also upgrading our network; even with 5G introduced, we are enhancing our 4G network to ensure customers enjoy the services.”
The surge in data consumption is primarily driven by heightened activity in streaming, social media, and online engagements among Fijians. As the trend shows no signs of abating, Vodafone is actively monitoring network performance and plans to evaluate capacity and implement necessary enhancements to accommodate the growing demand.
This proactive approach reflects Vodafone’s commitment to ensuring that customers continue to receive reliable internet services amidst an ever-increasing appetite for data usage.
