With 30 years in the industry, Crediford brings a wealth of experience and a passion for local performances, aiming to cover all artistic events and invite community contributions through her new column.
The calendar features an exciting lineup starting with Kestral Productions’ unique interpretation of Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar,” performed by an all-woman cast and directed by David Huss, pays tribute to his late wife, Nancy Duncan Huss. The themes of political power resonate strongly with contemporary issues, featuring prominent local talent.
Following is the Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth’s delightful adaptation of “Sweeney Todd: School Edition,” which allows young performers to explore this classic musical under the guidance of directors Dylan Cisneros and Logan Hyer-Long in age-appropriate performances.
In a collaborative effort with New Prospect Theatre, Bellingham Theatre Guild’s Satellites will present two of Sean Walbeck’s plays, “5 Micro Plays Near the End” and “Building Self-Esteem.” This double feature spotlights local talent while offering a mix of poignant and humorous storytelling.
Additional highlights include Squalicum High School’s rendition of “Urinetown,” Bellingham High School’s “Sister Act: The Musical,” and Idiom Theatre’s productions of “The Plague” and “The Roommate.” The calendar also features vibrant performances like “The Wizard of Oz” by the BAAY Pixies and a celebration of seasons through “Seasons and Celebrations: A Calendar Cabaret.”
This initiative not only emphasizes the rich cultural fabric of Whatcom County’s performing arts scene but also fosters a sense of community engagement and support for local artists. As the calendar expands with each month, it promises to connect audiences with the myriad performances that enrich their local culture.
