Former President Bill Clinton disclosed in a recent video deposition that Donald Trump once reminisced about their past acquaintance with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, stating they had “some great times” together before their relationship deteriorated. This revelation emerged from Clinton’s testimony to the House Oversight Committee, reflecting on a conversation they had during a golf tournament in the early 2000s.
Clinton mentioned that Trump was aware of his past travels on Epstein’s private plane and noted, “You know, we had some great times together over the years, but we fell out all because of a real estate deal.” Trump has indicated that their friendship soured after Epstein allegedly employed young women at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club. Despite their shared past, Clinton emphasized that he did not believe Trump was involved in any wrongful activities associated with Epstein.
Both Clinton and Trump had connections to Epstein prior to the financier’s guilty plea in 2008 for soliciting prostitution from a minor. They have maintained that they did not witness any evidence of sex trafficking, and neither has faced criminal accusations relating to Epstein, who had a notorious reputation for hosting influential figures at his lavish residences.
Clinton recounted his initial introduction to Epstein through former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, who had positioned Epstein as a potential donor capable of flying Clinton and his team across the globe for charity endeavors. Clinton acknowledged flying on Epstein’s aircraft for various trips, but he distanced himself from Epstein’s activities after 2003, expressing regret over their association.
In his testimony, Clinton confirmed he had no sexual relations with anyone introduced by Epstein or his associate Ghislaine Maxwell. He did, however, mention receiving a neck massage from a flight attendant later identified as an Epstein abuse survivor, insisting he was unaware of any misconduct at the time. Clinton stated he had avoided Epstein’s Caribbean island and had no knowledge of Epstein’s numerous visits to the White House during his presidency.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the Republican-led committee has also subpoenaed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who testified that she did not recall meeting Epstein at any point.
