Chuck Negron, the esteemed musician and co-founder of the iconic rock band Three Dog Night, has passed away at the age of 83. He died peacefully at his home in Studio City, California, on February 2nd, surrounded by his loving family. Negron’s legacy endures through his extensive contributions to music and the close-knit family he cherished, which includes his wife Ami Albea Negron, his children, and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Rene, sister Denise, as well as his children’s mothers. Negron was preceded in death by his parents and his twin sister.

Born on June 8, 1942, Negron’s journey began in the Bronx, where he grew up with a passion for music and basketball. He was drawn to the entertainment industry at an early age and later moved to Los Angeles, where his musical career flourished. In 1967, Negron teamed up with Danny Hutton and Cory Wells to establish Three Dog Night, which became one of the most successful bands of their era due to their unique harmonies and innovative sound.

The group is known for timeless hits including “Joy to the World,” “One (Is the Loneliest Number),” and “Easy to Be Hard.” However, Negron faced significant personal challenges, including struggles with addiction that not only affected his life but also the band’s trajectory. Despite these hurdles, he eventually overcame his addiction in 1991, focusing on a successful solo career and publishing his candid autobiography, “Three Dog Nightmare,” in 1999.

Negron’s later years were marked by resilience as he continued to tour while dealing with chronic COPD. His dedication to music and performing persisted, showcasing his undying passion for his craft. However, the COVID-19 pandemic ultimately prevented him from performing, and he sadly battled heart failure in his final months.

Negron’s story serves as a powerful reminder of perseverance and the importance of family, making his legacy not just one of musical excellence but also of personal triumph over adversity. He will be remembered not only for his voice but as an embodiment of unwavering spirit in the face of life’s challenges.
