The Chiefs have received a significant boost as they gear up for the upcoming Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season, having secured contract extensions for All Blacks Simon Parker and Leroy Carter through to 2027 and 2028, respectively. This announcement comes just days before the Chiefs’ season opener against the Blues, ensuring that these two national representatives will remain with the Hamilton-based franchise for two more seasons.

Additionally, both Parker and Carter’s re-signings will allow them to continue contributing to their respective teams in the National Provincial Championship (NPC), as they are committed to play for Northland and Bay of Plenty for the next two domestic seasons.

Leroy Carter, once a part of the All Blacks Sevens squad, expressed his contentment with the decision to stay, stating, “I don’t want to play for another club, so it was a pretty easy decision. It’s a club I grew up wanting to play for, and it’s a dream come true.” Simon Parker, a 25-year-old loose forward who debuted for the All Blacks in Buenos Aires, has made 35 appearances for the Chiefs since 2020. He echoed similar sentiments about securing his future early, mentioning, “It’s quite nice to have some security knowing where you’re going to be for the next couple of seasons.”

As the action kicks off for the 2026 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season, fans can look forward to an exciting schedule, beginning with the Highlanders hosting the Crusaders on Friday at 6.05pm, followed by the Waratahs versus Reds at 8.35pm. Saturday holds more thrilling matchups, including the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua taking on Moana Pasifika at 3.35pm, the Chiefs clashing with the Blues at 6.05pm, and the Force welcoming the Brumbies at 8.35pm.

Overall, the retention of Parker and Carter signals a positive direction for the Chiefs, as they aim to build on their success in the Super Rugby Pacific season ahead.
