The Chennai Bulls, captained by Prashant Singh (often referred to as Shiv), along with teammates Sumit Kumar Roy, Ganesh Majhi, and Deepak Punja, are currently participating in the McDonald’s Coral Coast Fiji 7s. Despite being a small team from India, they are making the most of their experience in Fiji, connecting with their local teammates and learning from renowned rugby figures.
Captain Singh expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to be in Fiji, emphasizing the team’s eagerness to absorb knowledge from the deep-rooted rugby culture found in the region. “With our experience, it just started and it’s going very well. We just came here to learn a lot from the legends of rugby who played with us already in the RFL (Rugby Premier League),” Singh noted.
The players are enjoying their stay in Fiji, enchanted by the beautiful weather, stunning landscapes, and the welcoming nature of the locals. Singh stated, “It’s just a good experience; we are just seeing again and again the weather and the scenery is just so beautiful.” Although they are eager to prolong their visit, they are constrained by time, with only four days remaining before returning home. They hope to seize the opportunity to explore more of the beautiful nation within their limited timeframe.
The Chennai Bulls have previously integrated Fijian talents like Joseva Talacolo and Filipe Sauturaga into their squad during the last season of the Rugby Premier League. This exchange underscores the strong ties and mutual influence that exist between the two teams across different countries. This trip not only underscores the spirit of rugby but also promotes valuable learning and cultural exchanges among players hailing from diverse backgrounds. The Chennai Bulls embody the essence of rugby, fostering unity and friendship beyond borders during this enriching journey.
