A bail variation application has been submitted on behalf of Charlie Charters, who is seeking authorization to travel to Australia for work. The defense presented this matter in court today, formally requesting orders that would permit Charters to exit the country.

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) is opposing this application and has requested additional time to prepare its objections. The court has instructed FICAC to submit and serve its response by the 2nd of next month.

Additionally, the main case will be addressed at 2:30 PM on March 2nd, focusing on the second phase of disclosures. Meanwhile, the bail variation hearing is set for March 3rd at 10:30 AM, with a decision anticipated by March 4th. The outcome of this hearing could significantly impact Charters’ ability to take up employment opportunities abroad, highlighting the continuous legal proceedings surrounding his case.
