The American Water Charitable Foundation has announced a significant contribution of over $75,000 in State Strategic Impact grants to 27 organizations throughout Central Kentucky in 2025. This initiative, part of the Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, focuses on enhancing the well-being of communities in key areas such as water, people, and community development.

Leila Salisbury, founder and executive director of The Kentucky Center for Grieving Children and Families, expressed gratitude for the support, highlighting the critical need for resources for youth in Kentucky who experience significant loss. “Eleven percent of our young people in Kentucky will face a substantial death loss before they reach 18 years old, impacting their personal and academic lives,” she noted. The funds from the foundation will facilitate therapeutic experiences and ongoing peer support groups, fostering resilience among these young individuals and empowering them to contribute positively to their communities.

Among the organizations receiving funding are A Different World, CASA of Lexington, and the Lexington Humane Society, along with several others that cater to diverse community needs, from educational support to mental health services.

Rob Burton, president of Kentucky American Water, emphasized the company’s commitment to giving back to its community. He remarked, “With the support of the American Water Charitable Foundation, we are honored to collaborate with a range of organizations, working towards creating opportunities and ensuring every family has access to necessary resources.”

Carrie Williams, president of the American Water Charitable Foundation, reiterated the importance of partnerships with local organizations that enhance the quality of life in Central Kentucky. The grants reflect a strategic investment in projects that uplift communities and foster long-term growth.

American Water, recognized as the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., continues to support initiatives that benefit millions of people across the country, underscoring its commitment to enhancing community life through meaningful contributions.
