Central Florida is preparing for a significant drop in temperatures, as scattered showers and downpours are expected this morning, followed by the arrival of a cold front. This front will usher in frigid temperatures, with certain regions potentially dropping below freezing. The chilly weather will persist throughout the weekend, impacting many residents.

Tonight, skies will clear as cold air continues to pour into the state. A FOX 35 Storm Team Alert is currently active from Tuesday through Thursday, warning residents of cold nights and mornings, with freeze warnings issued for various parts of the area.

As the cold settles in tonight, expect temperatures to slide into the 20s and 30s for most of Central Florida. Areas located northwest of Interstate 4 are at a higher risk of experiencing below-freezing temperatures, while those southeast of I-4 are likely to see temperatures in the mid to upper 30s.

To prepare for the cold snap, a Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for the majority of counties from 12 a.m. to 9 a.m. tomorrow. Wind chill factors may cause temperatures to feel even colder, hovering around the 20s and 30s.

The chilly stretch continues into tomorrow, with temperatures starting in the 20s and 30s in the morning and only climbing to highs of 50 to 60 degrees during the day. Wednesday morning will bring another Freeze Watch from 12 a.m. to 9 a.m., especially for areas northwest of Orlando, as temperatures are predicted to drop again overnight.

On Thursday, similar conditions will persist, with temperatures near and below freezing in the morning and a slight increase in afternoon highs reaching the low to mid-60s. By Friday, temperatures may climb to the mid-60s. However, the weekend forecast indicates a drastic drop, with highs expected to remain in the mid-50s on Saturday. Sunday may witness some of the coldest air experienced in years, with highs potentially only reaching the upper 40s and low 50s.

Residents are advised to take precautions against the cold, ensuring they stay warm and safe as these chilly temperatures settle in for the week ahead.
