Martin earned his first start with the Mavericks in place of Flagg and delivered an impressive performance, registering 14 points, five rebounds, six assists, and three steals. This marked Martin’s sixth career game with at least 10 points, five rebounds, and five assists, further highlighting his growing influence on the court. The previous night, he had come off the bench to score a personal best of 15 points against the Denver Nuggets, contributing significantly to the Mavericks’ efforts despite the loss.
“It was one of the more fun games I’ve played since I’ve been here,” Martin reflected. He emphasized the joy of competing and making an impact during the game.
Injuries have taken a toll on the Mavericks’ roster this January, affecting key players such as Flagg, Anthony Davis, P.J. Washington, and Daniel Gafford.
