Tracey Howard, the husband of the late Nicole Conners, expressed his devastation following the sentencing of Austin Thompson, the man convicted in relation to his wife’s death. Speaking to ABC11, Howard described himself as “a broken man,” grappling with the emotional aftermath of the tragedy.

Howard was the only family member to attend each day of the trial, and during his testimony, he conveyed that while the sentencing offers a semblance of closure, it fails to bring back his beloved wife. “It’s a step closer to everything being over with,” he reflected, emphasizing the ongoing pain this situation has caused.

Visibly affected, Conners’ parents displayed profound grief during the proceedings. Her father sat with his head bowed, while her mother wiped away her tears throughout the sentencing.

Howard also expressed deep resentment toward Thompson, stating, “I never heard Austin apologize. I never seen any regrets—no soul. Right now, I can’t forgive him.” This lack of remorse from Thompson highlights the emotional toll on those left behind.

Thompson is expected to be transferred to an adult correctional facility, marking another chapter in this painful saga.

The sentiments shared by Howard and Conners’ family resonate with many who have experienced similar losses, reflecting the often complex nature of justice and healing.
