Brendan Fraser has recently shared his thoughts on the possibility of returning to the iconic role of Rick O’Connell in a potential fourth installment of The Mummy series. Nearly two decades have passed since Fraser last portrayed the adventurous character, and fans are eager for news regarding a new film.
In an interview with Radio Times, Fraser expressed his enthusiasm about the enduring popularity of the Mummy films. “My lips are sealed! I’m hopeful to have good news soon because I know how popular the films were,” he stated. He emphasized how the series resonated with audiences, noting that many fans have grown up watching the films and now introduce them to the next generation. “Let’s all keep our fingers crossed and light a candle,” he added, hinting at his optimism for the future of the franchise.
Fraser’s portrayal of Rick O’Connell has become a defining role in his career, and he is open to the idea of returning to it. “Would I like to? Absolutely. I’ve always said I like the idea and I always will,” he said, although he acknowledged that the decision is ultimately not in his hands.
The Mummy trilogy, which spanned from 1999 to 2008, saw Fraser leading as O’Connell through thrilling adventures, with the last film featuring him alongside Jet Li. Any new installment would reportedly aim to move past the earlier films, including 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
