New Blood Interactive, known for its work on games like Ultrakill and Dusk, is expanding its publishing portfolio beyond the popular realm of boomer shooters. Among its offerings are immersive simulation titles such as Fallen Aces, Gloomwood, and Blood West. The studio humorously endorses Blood West on its Steam page, declaring, “BLOOD WEST IS SO DAMN GOOD WE DECIDED TO PUBLISH IT AFTER IT WAS ALREADY OUT!”

For those intrigued, Blood West is available for free on the Epic Games Store until tomorrow. Additionally, players can snag it on Steam for 50% off during the ongoing winter sale, which runs until January 5.

While the game has not been reviewed by us, it boasts a “Very Positive” rating from users on Steam. Blood West distinguishes itself with a familiar voice, featuring Stephen Russell, the voice actor renowned for portraying Garrett in the classic Thief series, in the role of the protagonist. Players step into the shoes of an “undead gunslinger” who navigates through shadows, gathers skill upgrades, vanquishes monsters, and works to lift a curse.

Though the notion of what constitutes an immersive simulation may be muddled, the excitement surrounding Blood West is palpable. Survival enthusiasts should grab it for free on the Epic Games Store until December 21, 2025. It’s worth noting that the game is unrelated to other titles like Weird West or Evil West, despite their simultaneous releases last year, highlighting a fascinating example of convergent evolution in gaming design. With its engaging gameplay and compelling characters, Blood West aims to leave a lasting impression on the genre.
