Billie Eilish is set to revolutionize the concert film experience with her upcoming 3D concert film, “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” co-directed by the renowned James Cameron. The film is scheduled for release by Paramount on March 20, 2026. This ambitious project promises to showcase Eilish’s latest hit tour and has been labeled as “an innovative new concert experience.”

Cameron, known for his groundbreaking work on the “Avatar” franchise, claimed in the trailer, “no one has ever shot a concert film on this scale before,” emphasizing the use of unprecedented technology for this project. The trailer also highlights a personal dimension, as Cameron engages with Eilish about the emotional weight she carries during her performances.

“Hit Me Hard and Soft” follows Eilish’s previous concert film, “Live at the O2,” released in 2023 as a limited edition. With a focus on IMAX and other large-format screenings, Eilish aims for a broader release that echoes the commercial success of the “Taylor Swift: Eras Tour” film, which amassed over $180 million domestically and nearly $262 million worldwide.

Paramount has not released a concert film in theaters for some time, with the 2011 Justin Bieber: “Never Say Never” being one of the last notable entries, grossing approximately $73 million at the domestic box office.

This concert film marks Eilish’s third studio album, which received seven nominations at the recent 67th Annual Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year. At the upcoming 68th Grammy Awards on February 1, 2026, her single “Wildflower” has also been nominated for both Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

As anticipation builds for this unique cinematic experience, audiences can expect a melding of music and technology that aims to redefine how concert films are experienced in theaters. Eilish’s collaboration with Cameron stands to not only elevate her artistry but also set a new standard in the film industry.
