Fox’s reboot of the iconic series “Baywatch” is set to feature original cast member David Chokachi, who will reprise his role as Cody Madison. According to sources, Chokachi will join Stephen Amell, who has been recently announced as the lead playing Hobie Buchanon, the son of legendary lifeguard Mitch Buchanon from the original series.

In the new version, Cody has taken on a significant role as the operator of “The Shoreline,” a bar-and-grill that serves as a central hub for the Baywatch crew. His character remains a dedicated lifeguard, occasionally donning his red trunks to save lives, and is described as a mentor and a friend to fellow lifeguards, often providing a sense of community and complimentary wings after rescues.

Chokachi first entered the “Baywatch” franchise during its sixth season and remained a key figure through its ninth season. He has also appeared in various television series like “Witchblade” and “Beyond the Break,” as well as films including “Atlantic Rim,” “Psycho Beach Party,” and “Soul Surfer.” His representation includes LINK Entertainment and Singular Talent.

The reboot, which was announced in September 2025, received a 12-episode order for the 2026-2027 broadcast season. Fox will hold an open casting call for the series on February 18, with production slated to commence this spring in Los Angeles. The showrunner, Matt Nix, will work alongside a team of executive producers including McG, Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto, and Mike Horowitz, with McG directing the premiere episode. The series is a collaboration between Fox Entertainment and Fremantle.

“Baywatch” gained immense popularity during its run, becoming one of the most-watched shows globally, reaching audiences in over 200 countries. The series not only featured David Hasselhoff as Mitch Buchanon but also played a significant role in launching the careers of stars like Pamela Anderson, Jason Momoa, and Carmen Electra. The franchise has previously seen a spinoff, “Baywatch Nights,” and a feature film reboot in 2017 starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Zac Efron.

As the revival of this classic show takes shape, fans can look forward to both nostalgia and new adventures on the beach, promising a blend of familiar charm and modern storytelling.
