BATON ROUGE, La. – This week is set to bring foggy mornings along with a rise in temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.

A Dense Fog Advisory has been issued effective from midnight to 9 AM Monday, warning of visibility dropping to a quarter mile or less in some areas. Drivers are advised to exercise caution and allow extra travel time during the morning commute, as temperatures are expected to dip near 50 degrees, accompanied by widespread fog.

By mid to late morning, the fog should begin to lift, giving way to a mix of sun and clouds throughout the afternoon. High temperatures are predicted to reach the 70s, with areas along the interstate likely to see the warmer end of that range.

Looking ahead to the week, weak disturbances are anticipated to bring sporadic rain showers, with higher chances expected by the weekend. Valentine’s Day could see thunderstorms, although current forecasts do not indicate any severe weather threats.

Rainfall amounts could vary significantly, with predictions of half an inch to an inch of rain near and north of the interstates, while areas south of the interstates may receive up to half an inch. Coastal regions are expected to see even less.

Overall, the week will maintain a pattern of warm and muggy weather, with mild afternoon temperatures consistently around the 70-degree mark and cooler nights in the 40s and 50s. Rain chances will persist from Wednesday through the weekend, signifying a potentially beneficial rainfall for the region.
