Barry Manilow, the iconic 82-year-old singer, has revealed that he has been diagnosed with lung cancer. In a heartfelt Instagram statement on Monday, Manilow discussed his recent health struggles, including a six-week bout of bronchitis followed by a five-week relapse. Despite having recovered from bronchitis and returning to the stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, his doctor recommended an MRI for precaution, which unfortunately led to the discovery of a cancerous spot on his left lung that requires surgical removal.

In optimistic spirits, Manilow expressed gratitude for the early detection of the cancerous spot. “It’s pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early,” he shared. The musician is set to undergo surgery but reassured fans that the doctors do not believe the cancer has spread, stating, “So, that’s it. No chemo. No radiation. Just chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns.”

Due to his diagnosis and upcoming surgery, Manilow announced that he must reschedule his performances for the January leg of his “Christmas: A Gift of Love” concert series. He apologized for the inconvenience, saying, “Just like you, we were all looking forward to the January shows and hate having to move everything around.” The rescheduled concerts will now take place in February, March, and April.

Manilow also hinted at a hopeful comeback, looking forward to celebrating Valentine’s weekend concerts from February 12-14, 2025, adding, “Something tells me that February weekend is going to be one big party.”

Last year, Manilow faced a similar situation, canceling a concert in London due to health reasons but quickly rescheduling it. Currently, he is performing as part of his “The Last Concerts” series, reflecting on a legacy that includes collaborations with fellow music legends like Billy Joel and Elton John. Manilow remains determined, asserting, “I’m still healthy. I’m strong and I’ve still got my voice and my energy,” committing to continue performing as long as he can hit those high notes.

Despite the challenges ahead, Manilow’s resilience and positive outlook serve as an inspiration to many fans who are cheering him on during this difficult time.
