Fiji Airways has announced that it will maintain operations of its two Airbus A350-900 aircraft following a recent acquisition deal involving Riyadh-based lessor AviLease. This agreement, revealed earlier this week, details AviLease’s purchase of the aircraft from GOAL Aircraft Leasing.

The two Airbus A350-900 jets, identified by their manufacturer serial numbers MSN 260 and MSN 251, were integrated into AviLease’s fleet in late December 2025. Currently, they are on long-term lease to Fiji Airways, ensuring that the airline’s long-haul services remain uninterrupted. The carrier received these modern aircraft in August 2023 and has been utilizing them on key trans-Pacific routes, including flights to Los Angeles and San Francisco. Fiji Airways is benefitting from the A350-900’s enhanced fuel efficiency and extended flying range as part of its efforts to modernize its fleet.

Christian Schloemann, managing director of GOAL, commented on the significance of the transaction, noting that it underscores the effectiveness of his company’s investment strategy. The sale is projected to improve liquidity for GOAL’s investors, with plans for reinvestment in new aircraft opportunities. AviLease, which is fully owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, aims to build a premier leasing portfolio, with a focus on advanced, fuel-efficient aircraft such as the A350-900, which provide considerable advantages over older aircraft models.

For Fiji Airways customers, the ownership change is expected to be seamless, with no anticipated alterations to flight schedules, routes, or onboard services as the airline continues to operate under the existing leasing arrangements. This transition represents a significant milestone for both Fiji Airways and AviLease, exemplifying the positive developments in the aviation leasing sector. The ongoing investment in modern aircraft is likely to contribute to a more sustainable and efficient future for air travel.
