Brisbane: Captain Alyssa Healy expressed her satisfaction with Australia’s strong response following their T20I series loss to India, as her team claimed a convincing six-wicket victory over the reigning World Champions in the opening ODI at Allan Border Field in Brisbane on Tuesday.

“I’m pretty pleased with that. There was a lot of scrutiny on us after the T20I series regarding how we would bounce back. To come out and play the way we did today was clinical. I’m proud of the group for the resilience shown,” Healy remarked.

After limiting India to a score of 214, Australia approached their chase with a sense of calm and confidence, traits Healy attributes to their proficiency in the 50-over format. “As I mentioned at the toss, we really enjoy this format and excel in it. We thrive on applying pressure for extended periods, which works to our advantage,” she added.

This victory not only showcases Australia’s strength in ODI cricket but also serves as a testament to the team’s ability to rebound from setbacks, maintaining their status as a formidable force on the world stage. With their next engagements on the horizon, fans can look forward to more resounding performances from this talented Australian side.
