The healthcare supply chain in Fiji has received a significant boost with a generous donation of $143,000 from the Australia Fiji Health Program, a collaboration facilitated by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). The contribution has been directed to the Fiji Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Services and includes essential equipment such as a forklift, laptops, trolleys, and 14,000 saline IV solutions aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and improving patient care.
Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Luisa Cikamatana expressed the importance of this generous donation, stating that the new equipment will streamline warehouse operations, facilitate better order fulfillment, and assist in the digitization of procurement systems. Additionally, the saline solutions are expected to help alleviate an immediate clinical shortage, ensuring that healthcare providers can deliver the necessary treatments to patients.
