AUBURN, Ala. – The fifth-ranked Auburn Tigers (7-1) are poised to continue their impressive home series winning streak as they prepare to face Nebraska (4-3) for the first time in program history. The highly anticipated series at Plainsman Park kicks off with the first pitch scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. CT, followed by games on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.

Fans will have multiple opportunities to catch the action, as the games will be broadcast on the Auburn Sports Network. Locally, listeners can tune in on Wings 94.3 FM for Friday and Sunday games, and on ESPN 106.7 FM for Saturday’s matchup. Additionally, the series will be available digitally on SEC Network+.

Head coach Butch Thompson emphasized the significance of this weekend, stating, “This is going to be an SEC-type weekend. It’s going to be a rehearsal. We still have a lot to learn, and it doesn’t matter who we’re playing. This is more about can we just absolutely keep getting ready to play good baseball?” Thompson acknowledged his respect for the Cornhuskers, highlighting that they will command both his and the team’s full attention during the series.

Auburn aims to secure its 11th consecutive regular season home series victory, a streak that dates back to their last series at Plainsman Park in 2024. The Tigers have proven dominant in winning 15 of their last 18 regular season weekends, marking them as one of the most consistent teams in the SEC during that period.

The pitching staff has been particularly impressive, recording 102 strikeouts over the first eight games, representing a 22-strikeout increase from last year’s total and the highest total since 1997. Seven of the first eight games have seen double-digit strikeouts, showcasing their effectiveness on the mound. Currently, Auburn ranks in the top ten in the NCAA for several pitching metrics, including strikeout-to-walk ratio and walks allowed per nine innings.

As for the probable starters this weekend, Friday will feature sophomore left-hander Jake Marciano (1-0, 0.82) against junior right-hander Ty Horn (0-0, 1.86). On Saturday, sophomore lefty Jackson Sanders (1-0, 3.27) is set to face redshirt sophomore Carson Jasa (1-0, 5.06), while Sunday will see redshirt sophomore Alex Petrovic (2-0, 2.70) matchup against sophomore Gavin Blachowicz (1-0, 1.86).

Nebraska, entering this series with a 4-3 record, recently concluded a challenging weekend in Arlington, where they faced off against ranked foes. Offensively, the Cornhuskers have shown promise with a team batting average of .319, highlighted by standout performances from Dylan Carey, who leads the team with a .455 average and three home runs.

As the Tigers and Cornhuskers prepare for this historic clash, excitement is building among fans. This weekend’s series promises to deliver thrilling baseball action at Plainsman Park, with promotional events such as EAGLES Night on Friday and a sky blue beanie giveaway on Saturday.

Visitors are advised to be aware of potential parking changes due to the annual War Eagle Run Fest occurring on Saturday and Sunday, as well as a men’s basketball game scheduled for Saturday evening.
