President Donald Trump lashed out at Fox News on Sunday, accusing the network of giving a platform to “sleazebags” and “scum” after it aired an interview with Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna, and saying the lack of on-air pushback makes it “Hard to win Elections like this!” The broadside, posted on his Truth Social account, singled out Fox anchor Jacqui Heinrich for failing to challenge Khanna’s remarks during the segment.

“You could listen to FoxNews all day long… but then, when you hear SLEAZEBAGS, like Congressman Ro Khanna, ‘a wolf in sheep’s clothing,’ LIE, LIE, LIE, AND LIE AGAIN, without any pushback, or competent rebuttal from an anchor… the entire Common Sense dialogue that has been going on all day at Fox is completely obliterated!” Trump wrote in the post. He went on to denounce other figures Fox had hosted, naming comedian Bill Maher and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and accused the network of undermining conservative messaging despite featuring “wonderful” anchors and commentators.

Khanna’s appearance on Fox’s The Sunday Briefing with senior White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich focused on gerrymandering and U.S.-China trade. During the interview, the California Democrat argued the United States was undercutting its own manufacturing base by buying cheaper steel from China — a point he framed as inconsistent with Trump’s “America First” economic rhetoric and something the president should raise with Chinese leader Xi Jinping during his planned visit to Beijing. Khanna has also spent the past year pressing for the release of government files related to Jeffrey Epstein’s victims, an advocacy role that has kept him in the public eye.

Trump, a longtime Fox viewer who regularly appears on and calls into the network’s programs, has a history of both cultivating and criticizing the channel. In his post, he suggested that “MAGA Republicans, who are actually close to 100% of the Party, hate Fox,” while acknowledging “the wonderful contributions made by so many of their great anchors and commentators.” His latest attack follows other recent rebukes of conservative institutions and figures, including public critiques of conservative Supreme Court justices for what he portrayed as insufficient loyalty.

The president also resurrected a personal jab at Maher, recounting a White House dinner the two attended last year — arranged by musician Kid Rock — saying Maher had seemed “nervous, scared” and had immediately asked for a drink. Trump’s renewed mockery of the HBO host underscores his willingness to target both liberal and centrist voices that surface on conservative outlets.

Political analysts say the salvo at Fox highlights ongoing tensions within the broader conservative coalition as Republicans prepare for fall elections. Trump’s post frames the dispute as one of messaging discipline: he faulted hosts who, in his view, fail to counter Democratic guests and thereby dilute conservative narratives. Whether the critique will alter Fox’s booking practices or shift conservative viewers’ loyalties remains to be seen, but the episode is another instance of the fraught relationship between the former president and the network he often turned to as an amplifier of his views.
