Game 2 of the first-round playoff series between the San Antonio Spurs and the Minnesota Timberwolves will tip off Wednesday, May 6, at 9:30 p.m. ET from the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio and will be broadcast nationally on ABC/ESPN, with live streaming available on the ESPN app. Minnesota holds a 1-0 lead after a 104-102 victory in the series opener on May 4.

Game 1 was a compressed, injury-tinged affair that highlighted both teams’ fragility and star power. Minnesota managed the win despite limited minutes from Anthony Edwards, who played 25 minutes and still poured in 18 points while not yet at full strength. Julius Randle provided a physical boost for the Timberwolves with a 21-point double-double, helping push his team past the Spurs in a tight finish.

San Antonio’s showpiece, Victor Wembanyama, produced a defensive masterpiece even in defeat. The 7-foot-4 center posted a triple-double — 11 points, 15 rebounds and 12 blocks — with the 12 blocks establishing a new playoff single-game record. Bench guard Dylan Harper paced the Spurs scoring with 18 points, all off the bench, underscoring San Antonio’s depth when Wembanyama is drawing double teams inside.

Injuries remain a defining subplot heading into Game 2. The Timberwolves are still shorthanded beyond Edwards: Donte DiVincenzo and Ayo Dosunmu remain out of the lineup, although Dosunmu is listed with a chance to return as the series progresses. The Spurs enter the contest in better health on paper, a factor oddsmakers and analysts say favors San Antonio over the depleted Minnesota rotation.

Fans without traditional cable can stream the game through the ESPN app; the matchup is also available on DIRECTV. The rest of the early series schedule has Game 3 set for May 8 at Minnesota on Prime Video and Game 4 on May 10 in Minnesota on NBC and Peacock (also on DIRECTV). If needed, Games 5, 6 and 7 are penciled for May 12 (San Antonio), May 15 (Minnesota) and May 17 (San Antonio), with exact times and broadcasters to be confirmed.

Both teams entered the postseason hampered by injuries to key players and have shown how quickly fortunes can swing when stars return. Wembanyama’s historic defensive night proved San Antonio remains a formidable opponent even against healthier opponents, while Minnesota’s ability to hang on with a shortened rotation will be the critical storyline as the series moves to Texas for Game 2.
