President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed his gratitude to the United States for its extensive support in helping Ukraine defend against Russian aggression.
The Ukrainian president downplayed a recent mix-up where U.S. President Joe Biden mistakenly referred to Zelenskyy as Russia’s Vladimir Putin.
“It was a mistake,” Zelenskyy stated to journalists upon his arrival in Ireland on Saturday. “The United States gave a lot of support for Ukrainians — we can forget some mistakes.”
The incident occurred on Thursday when President Biden introduced Zelenskyy as “President Putin” before a speech at the NATO summit in Washington.
