Army service member Christopher Lehman has received a heartwarming welcome to Pittsburgh after winning an impressive $1.3 million in the Pennsylvania Lottery. Lehman, who relocated to Beaver County from New Hampshire with his wife in May, decided to try his luck with the lottery as soon as he arrived.

“I had about $30 worth of play and was down to my last $5,” Lehman recounted. “I thought, if I don’t win, I don’t win, and then it just hit on the last one.” Lehman won the jackpot while playing the Jackpot Spectacular online game on the same day he signed up for a lottery account.

Having served in the military for 25 years, Lehman expressed a level of calmness towards his win, sharing that he’s experienced many highs throughout his service. “The excitement level was more of just a ‘OK, cool,’ because I didn’t see the money yet, I didn’t know if it was going to be real.”

Once he confirmed the funds were indeed real, Lehman and his wife allowed themselves to daydream about the possibilities. However, they decided to take a practical approach to their newfound wealth. They paid off their home, purchased a new truck, and invested the remainder, affirming a focus on the future and family. “I think everybody should do that — just grow the wealth, and if you have kids, take care of your family,” he noted.

This lottery win not only provides a significant financial boost for the Lehmans but also serves as an inspiration for responsible financial planning.
